Rotary International has a variety of Youth Exchange programs.  Rotary Youth Exchange (or R.Y.E.) has two different programs -- an academic year abroad program and a four to six week short term exchange (also known as the holiday exchange).

Rotary is a decentralized organization and individual Rotary districts typically are responsible for running the exchange program in their districts.  There are also several regional exchange organizations, like the Eastern States Student EXchange program (ESSEX) which are organizations of numerous Rotary districts.  Thirty one Rotary districts in fourteen states from Virginia through New Brunswick, Canada are members of ESSEX.  There are also similar organizations is other areas of the USA.

The application process for Rotary International's Student Exchange Programs starts with your local Rotary club.  Therefore, in most circumstances you should contact your local Rotary club and ask for more information.  However, if you live in the eastern United States of America or Quebec or New Brunswick, Canada, you may telephone

Another Rotary exchange program is for professionals who have been working for at least a few years.  In this program, which is known as the Group Study Exchange program (or GSE), small groups of professionals go abroad for the purpose of learning about a foreign culture and business practices.  I am not aware of any specific host page for this program at present so, if you are interested, I'd suggest that you contact your local Rotary club and check out the Rotary International home page at http://www.rotary.org
